One Marudu Commercial Centre on track

- By Neil Brian Joseph

KOTA KINABALU: The first phase of Kota Marudu's highly anticipated One Marudu Commercial Centre has already been completed, with only four available units up for grabs.

The project, which was the brainchild of Megatech Energy Sdn Bhd, will be divided into two phases.

Megatech Energy executive director Annie Tan said that phase one already had 57 units and the upcoming phase two would stand strong with 79 units, bringing the total number to 163 units.

“We have sold almost all of our units in phase one and now there are only four available units left.

“There are two types of designs, namely the two-storey intermediate design, priced at around RM700,000 and the threestorey design (corner lot), priced at around RM1 million,” Annie said.

She also disclosed that the occupation certificate (OC) for the project had been obtained since last December and the units are sized at 1,200 square feet per floor.

“Most of our shop owners have already rented out their units and some of them will be using their units for own use,” she added.

Commenting more on One Marudu's phase two, Annie reiterated that the design would still be the same except that there would be a hypermarket in it.

The construction work for the phase two will be starting soon and it is expected to be completed within 18 months.

Annie said that Megatech wanted to complete the project as soon as possible as the company was determined to give the best service to its customers.

“We believe that Kota Marudu has a lot of potential to create investment opportunities. We believe that Kota Marudu will grow exponentially in its business field, which includes agriculture and estate plantation,” she stressed.

Annie also echoed Kota Marudu member of parliament Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus Ongkili's contention that he had high hopes for the further development of his constituency.

On top of that, One Marudu has started housing 688 weekend tamu hawker stalls since May this year.

“Megatech is happy to announce that the council has already approved our application. The old Kota Marudu Tamu will be relocated to One Marudu.

“Despite housing a tamu, One Marudu will not be facing any parking problems as we have prepared adequate parking space for the visitors and hawkers,” said Annie in a press conference at the Megatech headquarters yesterday.

Also present was Megatech Energy executive chairman Poi Kim You.
