Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ding Jian Ping said the group continued to remain resilient despite the challenging landscape by devoting time and effort to work closely with its distributors and in innovating products to remain competitive.

“We will continue with our investments in research and development, advertising and marketing activities to further enhance the group’s distribution network, product design and development to maintain our competitive edge,” she said in an announcement to Bursa Malaysia yesterday.

Ding said the group remained cautiously optimistic for 2017 on the long-term potential of the sports footwear industry, more so, given the government’s support in promoting public sporting programmes and the hosting of international events.

“The group will focus on enhancing the performance of its core business activity this year, which is the manufacturing and marketing sports shoes.

“We will continue to invest in brand building with the aim of seeing Dixing as one of the sought-after brand of sports and leisure shoes amongst China’’s consumers,” she added.

K-Star concluded its financial year ended Dec 31, 2016 with a net loss of RM59.5 million against RM49.7 million in the same period a year earlier and on the back of a turnover of RM194.6 million versus RM194.8 million previously. — Bernama
