Raya aid for 100 recipients in Tenom
TENOM: One hundred people received Hari Raya aid during the Ramadan Jalinan Kasih program organized by Tenom Umno Wanita at the Datuk Seri Panglima Antenom hall here on Friday.
The aid recipients include single mothers, senior citizens, orphans, ex-servicemen, former soldiers and members of the security forces.
Earlier in her speech, Tenom Umno Wanita chief Datuk Rahmahjan Sulaiman Khan pointed out that the program was evidence of women’s concern for those in need.
“In politics, the Tenom Wanita Umno is committed to supporting the party’s struggle, for it is believed to be the only place capable of defending our destiny and future generations as proven in the past.
“From the past until now, the Tenom Wanita Umno has always been in the forefront in fighting and defending rights and interests of the people, as we adhere to the principle of ‘Bersatu, Bersetia and Berkhidmat’,” she said.
She said Tenom Wanita Umno had never been to a rally, but stood firm behind the leadership of the party and government under the auspices of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the Federal level and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman at state level.
“Our support is clear. For example, in terms of peace and security, we are grateful to the Federal and State leadership for defending the sovereignty of the state for the assets of all security forces, from the Royal Malaysian Police and Armed Forces to ESSCom and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency as well as various other agencies,” she said.
She said it was important for the community to be close and friendly with the security forces at all times.
“This is the true essence and objective of the women’s program this evening with the security forces.
“Hopefully this program will be the beginning of a larger program in the future,” she said.
Rahmahjan also praised the continued support of Tenom member of parliament Datuk Raime Unggi, both in terms of morale and material, to Tenom Umno women’s programs.
