KOTA KINABALU: The Tshung Tsin Red and KIS completed the six-team quarterfinal list for the Spritzer Cup Under-15 Basketball Tournament, which is happening at the Luyang Hall.
The Tshung Tsin Red made it through on six points after a third win when they beat Ravens 7754 on Sunday. A minimum of one point from the match they played last night secured the team’s spot in the quarterfinal.
Joining the Tshung Tsin Red in the next round are the Ravens after the latter completed their Group B fixtures from an earlier win over SYR last night.
The Tshung Tsin Reds can go to the top of the standings provided they won their match last night. Results were not available at press time.
KIS, on the other hand, made it through with KKHS AD Asia A from Group C despite losing their final game 36-39 against Nightmare.
KIS and Skywolf are both on six points but the former has the edge on score difference and are through to the next round with KKHS AD Asia A, who are on eight points.
KKHS AD Asia B and Tshung Tsin Yellow are the other two teams who made it through. They completed the Group A challenge in first and second place respectively.
The quarterfinal draw will see the teams divided into two groups, where the top team from each group will make it to the final while the runner up teams will battle in the third and fourth place play-off.
Meanwhile, Tshung Tsin B defeated KKHS AD Asia B 64-23 in the women’s competition.
Leading the standings in the seven-team women’s league are Tshung Tsin A and Damalee Fitness, who are both on six points followed by Kian Kok IWorld and Vui Kie who are on five points each.
The tournament which started on June 17 continues with four matches beginning 5pm, today.
The first two matches will see Damalee Fitness against Tshung Tsin B and Vui Kie against KKHS AD Asia A. The other two matches will be from the boys’ competition.
