SPCA Sandakan Fun Run 2017 set for October 29

-

SANDAKAN: The inaugural Sandakan Run 2017 of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Sandakan will be held on October 29 in conjunction with the Society’s fifth anniversary.

The Fun Run will start and finish at the IJM rugby field at Mile 6 Labuk Road.

Organising chairperson Voo Min Gin disclosed that the SPCA Fun Run is part of the campaign to raise awareness of the Society’s effort to rescue injured and abandoned animals, particularly dogs and cats, from around this district.

“As a non-profitable organisation that is actively working to rescue abandoned and injured animals, SPCA Sandakan is very dependent on public support, which had generously donated essential things for the shelter since it was established in 2012.

“Therefore, it is our hope that through this SPCA Fun Run, participants would not only come to run but also to donate to the SPCA shelter,” she explained yesterday.

There will be two categories open for participants of all ages - five kilometres and the 12 kilometres.

For the five-kilometre run, participants will be flagged off at 6.20am while for the 12-kilomentre run, the flag-off is at 6am.

Registration for the run is now open to the public. For early registration made before August 31, participant need only pay RM65, while those registering after August 31 will pay RM70. The closing date of registration is September 30.

All fully paid registered participants will be given a bib number, a tee-shirt, be entitled to the lucky draws and medals for the first 1,500 finishers.

Tee-shirt and bib number can be collected at the Sandakan Futsal Centre, at Mile 4 Labuk Road on October 21 from 11am to 2pm and on October 22 from 12pm to 3pm.
