KOTA KINABALU: The Magistrate’s Court here yesterday sentenced a man on two charges of running amok while wielding a machete, and consuming syabu.

Senior Assistant Registrar Mohamad Aizat Abdul Rahim, who sat as a magistrate, sentenced Mohd Abu Noorizhar to jail and fine after the latter admitted to both the charges.

On the first count, the unrepresented accused was fined RM25 and 14 days’ jail for going amok at Taman Puri Warisan in Inanam, on June 28.

The offence was framed under Section 15 of the Minor Offences Ordinance.

When asked by the magistrate, the accused said he was drunk at that time.
