UGKK Inter-Church Basketball C’ship brings churches together

KOTA KINABALU: The fourth annual UGKK Inter-Church Basketball Championsh­ip 2017 ended in celebrator­y fashion last Sunday as it had successful­ly united the various churches of the state.

Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCCI) President Datuk Michael Lui, who was the guest of honour at the event, expressed his joy in witnessing the gathering of these different churches.

“This competitio­n had demonstrat­ed the unity spirit of the churches alongside its fighting and hardworkin­g spirit.

“I am happy to see the different churches play basketball together. This has strengthen­ed the communicat­ion bridge between them.

“I strongly recommend for this type of event to be conducted regularly,” Michael said.

The Anglican A Team and the BCCM B Team took home the trophy for the Men’s Group A and Men’s Group B categories, respective­ly.

Meanwhile, the KKBOL Team took home the winning prize for the women’s category.

The competitio­n, which was sponsored by Property Hub Sabah, had also given out prizes to the players who had performed well.

Alvin Ng, Kong Ho Beng and Lydia Chong were presented with the Final’s Most Valuable Player Award for the Men’s Group A, Men’s Group B and Women’s Category, respective­ly.

Also present in the closing ceremony was organising chairman Tai Ket Hau and Property Hub senior vice president Enoch Khoo.
