Medical student makes Malaysia proud in Warsaw

WARSAW: Hard work has duly paid off for Malaysian medical student Dr Nor Syahairah Mohd Nor Norul who received the Golden Graduation laureate for academic excellence and outstandin­g achievemen­t from the Medical University of Warsaw, Poland.

She emerged as the best medical student among more than 70 internatio­nal students from the European Union, Middle East countries and Malaysia.

Two other Malaysian students, Dr Nur Aini Sharkhan and Dr Mohamad Amirul Akram Mashum were also among the top achievers.

Warsaw Medical University Rector, Prof Dr Miiroslaqw Wieglos, who is also a member of the Polish Academy of Medical Sciences affirmed that three Malaysian medical students were among the top 10 scorers, with the gold medal going to Dr Nor Syahairah.

“This means that for all the six years of studying, these students continued scoring high marks,” he said.

The award presentati­on ceremony was also attended by Malaysian Ambassador to Poland, Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin and Frankfurt based MARA director Ahmad Fadhli Mohd Naim.

Fadil in congratula­ting the trio also commended the seven Malaysian students in the same batch for completing their medical degrees.

He described their achievemen­t as a pride for Malaysia and a reflection of the country’s preparatio­n for National Transforma­tion 2050.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Fadhli said the 10 students were the first batch to graduate at Warsaw Medical University under MARA sponsorshi­p. The second batch of 21 will potentiall­y graduate in 2018.

Dr Nor Syahirah completed her Internatio­nal Baccalaure­ate programme at MARA Preparator­y College, Seremban in 2009 before pursuing medical studies in Warsaw.
