Sabahans left out of PH leadership line-up – LDP

-

KOTA KINABALU: The absence of Sabahans from the highest echelon of Pakatan Harapan (PH) shows that the opposition coalition does not care about Sabah’s rights at all, said Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) vice president Datuk Chin Shu Ying.

“PH claims that it values its opposition counterparts in East Malaysia, yet not a single representative from Sabah was listed in the leadership line-up.

“There is only an East Malaysian representative among the 12 important positions.”

Chin said the absence of Sabahans in PH top leadership showed that either the component parties did not care about Sabah’s rights, or they did not believe in the capability of PH leaders in the state.

“This proves that the assurance by PH component parties, including Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), that they have never neglected Sabah’s rights was only a political slogan.

“At crucial moments, Sabah’s rights and Sabahan leaders are the last thing on their minds,” he pointed out.

“Could the DAP leaders, including Jimmy Wong, Stephen Wong and Chan Foong Hin explain why there is not a single Sabahan in the highest echelon of PH? Do they agree with the leadership line-up? Did they protest over the absence of Sabahan representatives in the list?”

Chin challenged Jimmy, Stephen, Chan and other DAP leaders to explain to Sabahans the reason none from the state was appointed to the 12 top leadership positions of PH.

“If they cannot come up with a good reason, they should apologize to Sabahans because PH has indeed neglected Sabah.”

Chin said Sabahans should realize that PH, being an opposition pact dominated by peninsular-based parties, could not care less about the rights of Sabah and Sarawak.

“It only wants the East Malaysians’ votes in order for it to take over Putrajaya.”

Based on his observations, Chin said the DAP headquarters would only send its leaders to Sabah during major events such as Harvest Festival and Malaysia Day, where the party would conduct ceramah, collect public donations at dinner events and shout political slogans.

“Apart from that, these DAP leaders contribute nothing much.”

Even if PH forms the federal government, Chin said the coalition would only allocate insignificant positions to Sabahans.

“But looking at the PH leadership line-up, it seems that the coalition will not even appoint Sabahans to any positions at all.”
