KUALA LUMPUR: Monspace Multinational Corp yesterday donated RM250,000 to assist fire victims at the Kampung Hidayat water village in the Tawau and Karambunai constituency.

Monspace Group chief executive officer Dato’ Sri Jessy Lai handed over the donation cheque to Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister cum Karambunai assemblywoman Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid.

Half of the donation, RM125,000, will be channeled to the emergency assistance department of Tawau Municipal Council to assist the fire victims who lost their homes in a massive fire that razed the Kampung Hidayat water village on July 1, while the remaining funds will be used to assist the fire victims in the Karambunai constituency.

Jainab thanked Lai and Monspace for lending a helping hand to the unfortunate fire victims.

“I hope that more private companies will come forward and work hand in hand with the government in assisting people in need and the underprivileged groups.”

Meanwhile, Lai said the donation is part of Monspace’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to assist those in need.

“We hope the funds will help the fire victims get through difficult times,” she said.

The massive fire destroyed 250 stilt houses at Kampung Hidayat, rendering more than 1,500 villagers homeless.

Also present at the handover ceremony were Miss Nina (CEO of Monspace Stylist Channel), and Abas Bakar (Marketing Manager of Monspace Multinational Corp).
