MACC committed to eradicate corruption — MB

-

JOHOR BAHRU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and other agencies or departments that have signed the Corruption-Free Pledge are committed to eradicate corruption, said Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

He said signing the pledge was important and that the MACC was carrying out their responsibility to raise awareness on corruption to everyone.

“I am confident that the MACC is not politicking but those who have not signed the pledge for reasons best known to them are the ones politicking,” he told reporters after a ceremony to fete Johor government Haj pilgrims here yesterday.

He was commenting on the statement by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution on Sunday who questioned whether MACC chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad wanted to be a politician or celebrity, saying his approach was seen to be a publicity stunt in gaining media attention.

Saifuddin, who is also Penang Chief Minister’s strategic advisor, said the people were not interested in the pledge as it was just a public relations exercise, while questioning why the Corporate Integrity Pledge was discontinued.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Khaled added that the state government had allocated RM2 million to fund 303 Haj pilgrims from the state this year. - Bernama
