TN50 needs participation from private sector – Khairy

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Participation of the private sector is needed to ensure the success, vision and aspiration of the National Transformation 2050 (TN50) programme.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said TN50 related programmes had been organised by the government but needed the support and participation of other sectors to ensure the aspiration nd views gathered truly represented all segments of the society.

“The TN50 is a bottomup process, not just official government programmes as they would also involve participation of individuals and non-governmental bodies. For example, today, when we hear the aspiration of the young executives from Petronas who are highly-educated and working in the private sector to bringing a new perspective to building Malaysia’s future.

“What is being raised today is about unity, education, community values, people’s skills and energy security as well as the future of the energy sector.

“A very interesting discussion because it touched not only the future of the country, it also discussed the future of the company in the energy sector such as Petronas,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after attending the TN50 Dialogue titled ‘Petronas Young Professionals’ Plan for Future Development’, which was also attended by Petronas Chairman Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan and President and Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin.

Khairy also explained that it was very important for the government to get different perspectives from others including from the big, medium and small sized companies to ensure the success of TN50 which is an effort to shape Malaysia’s future for the period of 2020 to 2050.

The Youth and Sports Ministry is responsible for gathering TN50’s aspirations from youths, following the announcement of the 30-year national transformation plan by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak during the tabling of the 2017 Budget. - Bernama
