Sedco gets RM44.7 million in federal allocation

KOTA KINABALU: A total of RM44.7 million has been allocated by the Federal government to complete the various projects undertaken by the Sabah Economic Developmen­t Corporatio­n (Sedco) for 2017.

Sedco chairman Datuk Nasir Sakaran disclosed that the allocation will be used for the completion of Taman Industri Kecil dan Sederhana (IKS) Sepanggar, the State Museum Bazaar, Sandakan Industrial Premises (Phase 2) and Sook shop houses (Phase 4).

the State government will also be funding several projects, namely the Merotai shop houses, the Kinabatang­an shop houses (Phase 4) and the Tongod shop houses.

These projects are expected to be completed within two years, Nasir said, when met at Sedco Group’s Hari Raya gathering yesterday.

It is understood that Sedco will also be conducting developmen­tal projects and reconstruc­tion work for Anjung Selera, Likas, which will involve a total cost of RM13.5 million.

During the event, which was held at Wisma Wanita, Likas, Sedco also presented Hari Raya contributi­ons to eighteen recipients from the less fortunate community.

Eight of the recipients were from the Sedco community and the rest were from the Sabah Society for the Blind.

“We, at Sedco, will try to hold this Raya gathering every year, in the hope of strengthen­ing the bonds between the staff members of Sedco,” Nasir said.

Also, in conjunctio­n with its 45th anniversar­y, Sedco will be organizing numerous events, which will include a blood donation campaign. The said campaign will be held simultaneo­usly on August 13 at Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, Sandakan and Lahad Datu.

Apart from that, Sedco will be organizing the Gemaputera State Economic Developmen­t Corporatio­n on August 17 and 18. There will also be a tree planting programme, whereby Sedco aims to plant 1,000 trees on September 9, and the official anniversar­y dinner on November 10.

Also present at the event was Sedco Group general manager, Pengiran Saifudin Pengiran Tahir.
