Shafie denies never visiting Kimanis

-

KOTA KINABALU: Former Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal has denied Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman's claim that he never visited Kimanis when he was a minister.

Shafie claimed that he wanted to visit Kimanis where Anifah is member of parliament but was never given the opportunity to do so.

“I made my intention to visit Kimanis known but was not entertained. I however managed to visit one school in the constituency,” said Shafie who is Parti Warisan Sabah president.

He also refuted claim that he did not entertain Anifah when the latter wanted to see him about some development projects for Kimanis.

“Why would I make a federal minister wait for two hours and not see him?” he asked.

“The door to my office is always open, but I do not want to comment more on the matter as it is a waste of time. All that is history and I prefer to focus on the party and its objectives. We have to move forward and the way to do it is to change the government.

“I am confident that we can do it ... it was done by PBS and we know from history that Sabahans have done a lot of things and don't tell me without Umno we cannot survive,” he said.

Shafie also expressed his disappointment that Tan Sri Richard Malanjum was not appointed as Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Malaysia.
