-

SHAH ALAM: The silence at a neighbourhood in Sek7/20a here was broken when a gunshot rang out from a house at the end of the lane.

Later on, neighbours were shocked to learn that a 50-year old engineer had shot himself with a rifle in his own bathroom.

According to Shah Alam Deputy OCPD Supt Nek Zaidi Zakaria, the man was found by his father-inlaw on the first floor of his double storey home when he returned from errands.

“The father-in-law heard an explosion and later found the engineer in the bathroom with a rifle,” he said when met at the scene. No one else was at home when it happened.

Supt Nek Zaidi said the rifle belonged to the engineer and he had just renewed his license at the Shah Alam district police headquarters.

He added that it is believed that the man was suffering from health problems but could not elaborate on what they were. The man is survived by his wife who is in her 40s and four daughters who are in their teens.

The body was sent to Hospital Klang for a post-mortem and the case has been classified as a sudden death.
