Basic Entrepreneurship Course begins new module in September
PUTRAJAYA: The Basic Entrepreneurship Course at Higher Education Institutions (IPTs) will use a new module titled‘ Introduction to Entrepreneurship' in the 2017/2018 academic session beginning September, said Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh.
Through the adoption of the new module, the Basic Entrepreneurship Course, which is a compulsory subject in IPTs for diploma and degree levels, will be strengthened with emphasis on practical aspects, he said.
"If in the past (lecturers) only taught the theoretical aspect, through this module more emphasis is given to the experience of being an entrepreneur in university," he told reporters after launching the module here yesterday.
Idris said the module also supports the first leap in Malaysian Education Development Plan (Higher Education) to produce holistic graduates with entrepreneurial and balanced features.
The new module will be divided into 40 percent theory and 60 percent practical to provide a more effective entrepreneurial learning experience to students.
Idris said the module was also enhanced with new contents such as digital entrepreneurship, business model canvas and personal financial management.
The study results of the module had been realigned to meet the anticipated integrated cumulative grade point average (CGPA), he said.
He said this was to enable students to utilise the concepts and processes of basic entrepreneurship in their careers, thereby generating creative and innovative entrepreneurial ideas, thus implementing entrepreneurial projects well.
