Proposed National Media Day welcomed by Pewarta

-

TAWAU: The Journalists & Media Practitioners Association of Tawau (Pewarta) has wholly agreed to the proposal for a National Media Day celebration as voiced out by Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.

Association president Shamry Mohd Sani said it was a worthwhile proposal to be considered as recognition to the professionalism of journalists and media practitioners.

He said Pewarta is confident that this proposal, if carried out successfully, would enhance unity and fellowship among journalists and media practitioners.

Shamry said this in his speech at the Pewarta Hari Raya open house at a hotel here on Monday night.

According to Shamry, a career in the mass media nowadays is becoming more complex which every media practitioner has to adapt to keep up with the changing technology. The prime media would be wise to acclimatize themselves to the changing scenario of the global media, he added.

Also present were Assistant Resource Development and Information Technology Minister Datuk Hajah Hamisa Samat, political secretary to the chief minister, Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, and members of the Tawau Reporters Association.
