Courier service premises gutted by fire
LAHAD DATU: An evening fire gutted the premises of a courier service operator at Fajar Centre on Monday.
District Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohd Apandi Mahmood yesterday said his department received a distress call at 5.26pm.
Apandi said eight firefighters rushed to the scene in a fire engine and EMRS vehicle.
“The fire was brought under control about 20 minutes later and prevented from spreading to the upper floor and adjoining shops.
“The fire was completely extinguished at 7.38pm and 85 per cent of the shophouse was destroyed in the incident,” he said.
According to Apandi, no casualty was reported.
He added that the cause of the fire and the total loss had yet to be ascertained.
