LAHAD DATU: Members of Neighborhood Watch Areas (KRT) have been urged to play their roles in assisting the government to further strengthen unity among the community.

Lahad Datu assemblyman Datuk Mohd Yusof Apdal said unity is the key to the development implemented by the government for the well-being of the people.

He said KRT members could assist the heads of villagers and JKKK in encouraging the people to further strengthen unity through their activities.

“We are living in a country occupied by a multi-racial community and without unity, society will be divided.

“Disunity will not bring any good to any party. Therefore, all members of the community, including KRT members should play their roles in strengthening unity,” he said when officiating the Hari Raya programme organized by KRT Lahad Datu on Sunday night.

Yusof who is also Silam Umno division head, said KRT is also among the efforts taken by the government to ensure the security in their areas is under control.

He urged KRT members to become the eyes and ears of the government and cooperate with the security forces so that the security of the areas is under control.

Meanwhile, National Unity and Integration Department Sabah director Delin Liet Blaun hopes that KRT members will continue the efforts to strengthen unity among the people.

Delin also hopes the security forces will have closer communication with the KRT on the security aspect so that people could live in peace at their respective areas.
