KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s business community can now access and benefit from the MalaysiaBiz portal.

The portal contains business registration and licensing information that are constantly updated by the relevant government departments and agencies in Sabah, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Joseph Entulu Anak Belaun at the launch of the portal and appointment of the Licensing Information Friends for Sabah yesterday.

Entulu added that the information were made available since May this year.

He explained that presently, the portal only functions as an information portal but the scope of the portal would be expanded to eventually allow online business registration and licensing application.

He said that the aim of the portal was to provide a onestop gateway for the business community to get information on business registration and licensing as well as carry out actual online business license registration by the year 2020.

Entulu was represented by MAMPU director general Dato’ Dr Mazlan Yusoff who also announced the appointment of 129 Licensing Information Friends or RIL from each of the local governments in Sabah.

He said that the RIL would play the important role of updating the information in the portal.

Aside from Sabah, the portal also provides business registration for other states in Malaysia.

The portal has business licensing information on 1,174 activities in various fields of economy based on the Malaysia Standards Industry Classification (MSIC) 2008 prepared by the Statistics Department.

He said that the licensing information in the portal would continuously be monitored and updated by the authorities in charge of licensing to ensure it continues to be relevant with the legislation and business regulations enforced in Malaysia.

Also present at the event was Industrial Development Ministry permanent secretary Datuk Haji Hashim Paijan.
