Singer Eason Chan goes off tune on stage as fellow judges guffaw
BEIJING: Cantopop singer Eason Chan, 42, went off tune during the airing of the TV show Sing! China 2, as fellow judges Jay Chou and Liu Huan broke out in laughter.
Eason was the new member of the panel of judges, and fellow judge, singer Na Ying requested that he pretend to be a contestant to experience how it feels like to have brickbats coming his way. Eason sportingly accepted the challenge. He performed his hit song Ten Years, but it was horrible from the start.
His voice faltered, and from the first stanza, he was off tune. That’s when the guffaws broke out.
But Eason soldiered on, and sang the chorus flawlessly.
The wisecracking did not stop there.
Eason then introduced himself as “12-year-old Chen Er Meng.”
Backstage, he admitted being overcome by stage fright, and could now empathise with the contestants.
