68% of e-kasih participants trained
KOTA KINABALU: About 68 per cent of the e-kasih participants have benefited from the 1Azam programme since 2015.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Institution Academy (Ria) Dr John Britto said the success was a result of the numerous courses offered by e-kasih and its affiliated institutes.
He said that the courses had exposed the participants to knowledge and skills required in the field of business administration.
“In 2015, Ria was given the responsibility of taking up 100 e-kasih participants and to train them for one week.
“Here, we do not only train them with office administration skills but we also help them build their confidence.
“As for this year, we hope that the 20 students who will be undertaking this programme under Ria, will also achieve success,” he said at the Ria ekasih certificate presentation ceremony yesterday.
Among those who had benefited from the e-kasih programme was 22-year-old Sabriena Saimun.
“This one-week course has certainly taught me a lot of things.
“It taught me how to be more confident in front of others and ultimately, it taught me how to present myself during interviews,” the Penampang-born lady said.
She also expressed her hope that she would find a decent job soon.
Meanwhile, Nick Raynold Jalius, 21, said that the programme had pushed him to be more adventurous in trying something new.
Nick, who hails from Telupid, said that he wanted to paint a better future for his family and to pull them away from poverty.
“I want to help my parents raise our entire family.
“Before joining this programme, I was actually working at a restaurant near Taipan to lessen my parents’ burden to help my siblings with their education fund,” Nick said.
The eldest son among six children said that he felt lucky to be chosen as a participant despite coming from the rural areas.
The e-kasih programme has also given Faizatul Azura Khairul Anas, 22, the opportunity to achieve her dream of being an air stewardess.
“Although, I have never travelled in an aeroplane due to my financial limitations, it has always been my dream to become an air stewardess ... this was my dream ever since I was young.
“Upon joining this programme, I was working at a pharmacy in Telipok to help my family make ends meet,” she said.
The eldest child among three children described e-kasih as a platform that has the ability to transform lives.
She said that this programme had boosted her confidence, particularly in her quest to look for a job in the cabin crew industry.
Thus, she promised herself that she would make full use of this opportunity.
