247 Labuan policemen take pledge to remain corruption free
LABUAN: Two-hundred and forty seven Labuan policemen, including high-ranking officers, joined in taking the Corruption Free Pledge(IBR) in an effort to remain free of corruption.
The pledge initiated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) also involved 46 civil servants from various agencies, bringing the total to 293 people.
The pledge-taking led by Labuan police chief ACP Adzhar Othman was also an effort to unite Labuan policemen in combating corruption.
"We have always heeded the call of the national police chief to remain free of corruption, in fact this pledge-taking carried out simultaneously across the country two days ago is good.
“The Labuan police contingent will continue to maintain the good name of the police force," he told Bernama yesterday.
Adzhar said several measures have been set up by the Department of Integrity and Standard Compliance to ensure corruption can be controlled among the police personnel.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said on Monday that the police force had set the zero-corruption target for its personnel and various efforts would be taken to achieve the objective.
He acknowledged that corruption existed among members of the force, but efforts to prevent it should start from the sincerity of the police personnel themselves to reject corruption. - Bernama
