e-pay opens branch in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: e-pay extends its service to Sabah with the official launch of its second East Malaysian branch in Damai, here.

GHL Systems Berhad group chief executive officer Danny Leong said the move was paramount to better servicing clients in Sabah.

“We have decided to move the East Malaysian team to focus on the e-pay product here.

“We had an official opening in Kuching in September last year, so we decided to follow up on that effort in Sabah.

“Previously, we serviced our merchants from our branch in KL which is not very effective, because we realised it would be best for East Malaysians to work with their own people,” he said.

Danny said the e-pay service had been available in Sabah for about a year now, and had garnered marked improvements since.

More chain stores are now embracing the e-pay service, he said, as they realise the service provides patrons with convenient options.

“Our product is actually a terminal that we put into a store to provide services such as bill payment, prepaid top-up and even online games.

“We started e-pay so that all these shops can offer these services, then we add other services to give merchants more options because that is what our business is all about.”

e-pay now supports bill payments for a variety of service providers such as DiGi and Celcom, as well as Telekom Malaysia, Astro and Sabah Energy Sdn. Bhd. (SESB).

As of now, over 1,000 epay terminals are available throughout the state but Danny said they wished to cover more ground so that the services can be provided in places out of town, such as Lahad Datu and Telupid.

In conjunction with the launch of the Sabah branch, e-pay is having a month-long promotion in the form of a processing fee waiver.

Merchants who wish to provide e-pay services need only put down a deposit upon installation of an e-pay terminal.

The promotion is valid till the end of August.
