KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu City Hall, together with KSH Bicycle and Faith Wellness Centre, will be organizing the first Sabah Enduro Race 2017 on September 17 at Bukit Padang and its surrounding areas to promote one of the most popular bicycle racing formats in Europe.

The event will be held from 6 am to noon with an expected participation of 150 to 200 cyclists from various cycling clubs from all over Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Peninsular Malaysia.

Kota Kinabalu Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai said this event was mooted not only to introduce the enduro racing format but was also to provide a platform for bicycle enthusiasts to network and interact with the public, hence creating awareness that cycling was a healthy activity.

A typical one-day enduro race consists of three to five timed ‘special' stages which take place on technically demanding, generally descending terrain.

He said the local business community would also be able to promote their goods and services related to bicycles and at the same time network among the members.

“We hope cyclists can exchange their riding experiences and knowledge while at the same time promote to the public in general and cyclists specifically that enduro race is also a wellknown racing format overseas,” said Yeo.

Also present during the courtesy visit were City Hall officers Paul Ikun, Mary Elizabeth Popong and Willibrord Zeno Charles.
