KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman is hoping that the achievement made by Sabah’s first para sportswoman 2015 can be repeated by a sportsman from the state.

Musa said the state government from all aspects welcomes and encourages associations or NGOs to strive for the improvement of Sabah’s name in the national and international sports arena.

“To this end, associations or NGOs based on people with disabilities such as Sabah PESRON (Recreational and Sports Association for the Disabled) should be given guidance, encouragement and motivation so that they can provide a comprehensive focus and concentrate on the success of Sabah’s disabled athletes,” he said at the association’s fund raising dinner here yesterday.

Musa said Sabahans participating in this year’s Asean Para Games will surely be the pride of the people of the state.

“I believe and am confident that the Sabah paralympic athlete team under the guidance of PESRON Sabah is ready to face the 9th Asean Para Games in conjunction with the SEA Games 2017,” said Musa, whose speech was delivered by Community Development and Consumer Affairs minister Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid.

“If in the past sports, we have produced the first para sportswoman 2015 for Sabah, Felicia Mikat, it is not impossible for us to have the first para sportsman for Sabah.

“I hope that all parties will contribute and support this noble effort. Let us together with PESRON Sabah make the sports for people with disabilities a successful one,” he urged.
