GAUM wants MACC to clarify probe on allegations against trio
KOTA KINABALU: Gerakan Akar Umbi Umno (GAUM) wants clarification from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) pertaining to the agency’s investigation against three political individuals in relation to alleged corruption practice.
GAUM president Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar said a memorandum has been submitted to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur on Thursday to seek clarification on the agency’s investigation against Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, Parti Warisan Sabah vice-president Datuk Peter Anthony, and PKR vice-president cum secretary general Rafizi Ramli.
On the matter relating to Shafie and Anthony, Zulkarnain request MACC to provide reports on the agency’s investigation against both accused in their alleged involvement on rural projects worth RM53 million.
According to Zulkarnain, the allegation of corruption against Shafie and Antony were made by Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM) founder, Chegu Bard, in the latter’s blog which was then followed by an official report to the MACC on March 2017.
Zulkarnain also wants MACC to complete their investigation on Rafizi on the latter’s allegation of corruption involving the Selangor State Government.
He said Razifi had come forward and made an official report to MACC on May 2016 but till today, no action had been taken by the agency.
Zulkarnain added that the memorandum was received by MACC deputy director of communication Kamaruddin M Ripin and would follow up on the investigation.
