Dinner in The Sky ‘thrilling’ – Masidi

The “Dinner In The Sky” was launched in Sabah Tuesday with Datuk Masidi Manjun who was among the first guests describing the experience ‘thrilling”.

KOTA KINABALU: The worldwide dining phenomenon known as “Dinner In The Sky” has finally arrived at Sabah to enthral locals with a breathtaki­ng experience.

Not only that guests will be suspended over 50 meters in the sky, they will also be treated with an internatio­nally acclaimed Italian meal, while being surrounded by the clear and majestic view of the sunset and city lights.

Speaking at the launching ceremony on Tuesday, Tourism, Culture and Environmen­t Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun said Sabahans should definitely come and try this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“It was a thrilling experience for me and I had a great time. I would definitely recommend all locals and tourists to try it.

“I am happy that more exciting and unique experience­s are coming to Sabah as we have a huge tourism market and this will give them even more things to do here,” Masidi said.

He also expressed his gratitude towards TwoSpicy Entertainm­ent for choosing Kota Kinabalu as their next stop.

“On behalf of the state government, I would like to thank TwoSpicy Entertainm­ent for having confidence in us.

“This is a manifestat­ion of the company’s confidence in Sabah’s tourism industry,” Masidi added.

Masidi believes that this product will serve as an avenue to further strengthen and boost the state’s tourism industry.

The event, which was endorsed by the Sabah Tourism Board and co-sponsored by Sutera Harbour Resort will be a month-long event (throughout August) and it will be serving two dinners daily (6pm to 7pm and 7.30pm to 8pm), which comprises a delicious three course Italian meal, prepared and served by the nationally renowned Chef Danielle Rossetto from Ferdinand’s.

Tickets will be priced at only RM349 per person (and RM399 per person on weekends, inclusive of a printed picture worth RM39).

Apart from that, “Dinner In The Sky” also observes it safety measures to the utmost level.

While seated guests will wear safety belts, the standing presenter and crew members will be secured by a safety harness during the entire flight.

A safety patron will also be briefing patrons about all the safety regulation­s prior to the flight and will be in constant communicat­ion with the crane operator and ground crew.

In addition to that, “Dinner In The Sky” has also been approved by TUV SUD, a German organisati­on that validates the safety of products of all kinds to protect humans and the environmen­t against hazards.

“Dinner In The Sky” is currently only available in Malaysia for the South East Asian region.

It was understood that innovative experience had originally begun at Belgium and that it had hosted for the 5,000 dinners over 45 cities worldwide.

Also present in the launching ceremony were Sabah Tourism Board chairman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai and TwoSpicy Entertainm­ent Chief Executive Officer Arvin Randahwa.

During the event, the guests were also treated with a special Sumazau dance performanc­e in the sky, the very first of its kind.
