#YOUCANDUIT campaign helps raise income — Jailani
KUALA LUMPUR: The eUsahawan and e-Rezeki programmes introduced under the #YOUCANDUIT campaign has benefited its participants, including raising their income level, said Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Jailani Johari.
He said as of June, a total of 82,672 young entrepreneurs had attended the training and eUsahawan course since it was launched last year.
“Of the total, 24,701 or 30 percent of the participants have begun reporting additional sales amounting to more than RM88 million,” he said in reply to a question from Datuk Seri Wee Jeck Seng (BN-Tanjong Piai) who wanted to know the effectiveness of the #YOUCANDUIT programme during the question and answer session at the Dewan Rakyat sitting, yesterday.
Jailani said during the same period, 87,891 individuals were trained through e-Rezeki centres and representatives throughout the country. A total of 59,737 or 68 percent of the total managed to generate cumulative income of over RM65 million.
He said various initiatives were undertaken to attract more community participation in the programme, including through collaboration with the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and relevant government agencies, as well as promotion via radio, television, website and social media.
“According to the National Statistics Department, the digital economy has contributed 17.8 percent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2015, and this percentage is expected to increase to 18.2 percent by 2020,” he said. - Bernama
