11 Sabah Sports Board staff receive awards

-

KOTA KINABALU: Top Sabah Sports Board (SSB) staff members were recognised with service excellence awards for outstanding performance in 2016 here yesterday.

Its chairman Datuk Louis Rampas said a total of 11 recipients were selected from top picks of no more than four per cent of the total SSB staff with a minimum score of 85 per cent in performance.

“Recipients of the service excellence awards are those who had gone above and beyond the call of duty and this is the government’s way of showing appreciation,” he said.

Louis also urged civil servants, especially senior staff, to practise going down to the field in order to rectify problems at the grassroots, because troubled staff would lead to a troubled organisation.

Meanwhile, Assistant Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Masiung Banah, who represented Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan, said the success of the ministry would not be possible without the performance from dedicated staff at all levels.

In addition to the service excellence awards, five pensioners who retired at the end of last year and beginning of this year were also acknowledged for their service, as well as 29-yearold Rayzam Shah Wan Sofian, who received a special award for his contribution to the country.

Two other awards were given for best sports complex management, which were bestowed upon Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex and Sipitang Sports Complex.
