Handal unit bags onshore crane overhaul, repair services contract

KUALA LUMPUR: Handal Resources Bhd’s subsidiary, Handal Offshore Services Sdn Bhd (HOSSB), has secured a contract from ExxonMobil Exploratio­n and Production Malaysia Inc to provide onshore overhaul, major repair and refurbishm­ent services for offshore cranes.

The contract works, which commenced on July 27, 2017, was for a three-year period with an option for a one-year extension, said the integrated offshore crane services provider and fabricator in a statement here.

“The contract will contribute positively to the Group’s performanc­e for the financial years ending Dec 31, 2017 to 2020,” it added.

This latest contract is in addition to the earlier contract awarded in April 2017 which encompasse­d maintenanc­e services for offshore cranes for three years till 2020.

Group Advisor and Deputy Managing Director, Joel Emanuel Heaney, said with the latest contract award, HOSSB is now contracted to undertake an expanded scope of works for offshore cranes, hence affirming its strong position as the main provider of integrated crane services for multinatio­nal oil players.

“Our well-equipped and strategica­lly-located facilities in Kemaman, Terengganu, together with our strong track record, place us in favourable stead to serve oil majors effectivel­y,” he added. — Bernama
