Litter free status for 16 S’kan premises
SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Municipal Council (SMC) appreciated the efforts of all government agencies, schools and higher learning institutions in the district in ensuring their premises and surrounding areas are clean and beautiful.
SMC deputy president Haji Mohd Hamsan Awang Supain said it was undeniable that maintaining the premises free from litter was a tough and challenging task.
“However, it can be achieved with the cooperation of all staff, thus making cleanliness a practice and culture.
“Therefore, we hope that this effort would be continuously practised and all government premises and schools should be commited in doing so,” he said at the presentation of free-litter premises appreciation letter to 16 recipients at the SMC conference hall yesterday.
Among the recipients were Sekolah Menengah St Mary, Sekolah Kebangsaan St Monica, Inland Revenue Board Malaysia (Sandakan branch), Customs Malaysia, HSBC Bank, Public Bank, Prima Square, Sandakan Hotel, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (Sandakan branch), SM Yu Yuan, SJKC Chi Hwa, SMJK Tiong Hua, SK Merpati, SMK Tinusa, SMK Gum-Gum and SMK Elopura, Sandakan.
Hamsan also urged the public here to emulate the attitude of people in developing countries that have higher sense of cleanliness awareness.
