Royal Selangor in talks to export products to Thailand

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Pewter manufacturer and retailer, Royal Selangor International Sdn Bhd, is currently in talks with several parties in Thailand, to export its small take home items and gift products in the very near future to the country.

Executive director Yong Yoon Li said there were merchandise fans for box office blockbusters such as Star Wars and the Disney comics range, who had been asking for some of the products to complete their collections.

He, however declined to disclose the export value.

“Today, we export to more than 20 countries including China, the United Kingdom, North America and Australia and half our revenue comes from the export market.

“We also have more than 40 outlets worldwide, including standalone stores in top retail capitals such as London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Beijing, Melbourne and Sydney,” he told reporters after the presentation ceremony of the Chain of Custody (CoC) Certification to the company yesterday.

The ceremony was officiated by Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong.

The CoC, which is under the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS), enables Royal Selangor International to label all its wood-based pewter ware as attesting to compliance of sustainability requirements.

The MTCS is a national timber certification scheme for sustainability developed and operated by the Malaysian Timber Certification Council to confirm that timber products manufactured or traded are sourced from sustainably managed forests. — Bernama
