Tawau Toastmasters Club holds installation ceremony
TAWAU: The Tawau Toastmasters Club held its 21st installation ceremony at a leading hotel here last Saturday.
Area K2 director Ir Hj Azmer Shamsuddin installed the excos for the 2017/2018 term and expressed hopes that the members led by president Magdalind Gabriel would work together in leading the club to greater heights.
One hundred and twenty guests and members attended the event.
Guest of honour, Division K Director District 87 Shane Ho reminded in his speech that the Toastmaster Club is not only a platform to improve public speaking and presentation. It is also a place to improve interpersonal skills, leadership skills and communicating ideas.
Outgoing president Muhammad Khuzaimy Yalah stressed that being a president is a responsibility and a privilege, aside from having the opportunity to learn leadership skills as well as to support fellow members.
To that end, he said he was honoured and had enjoyed the past 12 months as president with members who provided active contribution towards the club.
Meanwhile, incoming president Magdalind Gabriel stressed that the club motto “Confident Competent Consistent” is a great motivating guidance to all members.
She said learning skills and membership growth were important tasks to achieve and she hoped that more members of the public would sign up as members to benefit from the club’s various programmes.
Magdalind disclosed that the Tawau Toastmasters Club organises meetings on public speaking and leadership training every Tuesday of the second and fourth week of the month at Persatuan Cina-Cina, Ba Zhong Commercial Centre, Tawau.
She also expressed her sincere gratitude to the public who supported the club’s annual Installation Magazine and thanked the organising chairperson, Elie Chang, and her team for their contribution toward the success of the ceremony.
