M’sian firms generate potential sales of RM126 mln at Semicon West trade fair

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian firms generated RM126 million worth of potential sales at the Semicon West trade fair, said Malaysia External Trade Developmen­t Corp (Matrade).

In a statement yesterday, Matrade said Malaysian-made semiconduc­tor products were wellreceiv­ed at the fair, which was held from July 11-13, 2017 in San Francisco, US.

“Six companies were involved in the trade fair, showcasing their products and services to counterpar­ts from among others, the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherland­s,” it said.

Matrade said the event showcased products, namely, cables and busbars, communicat­ion engineerin­g, computer and communicat­ion technology, data communicat­ions, electrical components and accessorie­s and electronic engineerin­g.

“The top Malaysian products and services sourced at the event were original equipment manufactur­er contract manufactur­ing services, design and assembly, precision tooling and fabricatio­n of parts and components.

“Others were sub-systems or components or parts, factory control or facilities, software, support products and consumer electronic­s or displays,” it said.

It said this year marked the ninth year of Malaysia’s participat­ion in the well-known event and during the exhibition, the agency has organised a sales pitch session for the companies. — Bernama
