Committee to empower welfare homes’ visitors boards — Jainab
SANDAKAN: A committee to empower the Board of Visitors of every welfare home or home care under the Sabah Welfare Services Department will be set up to develop the homes for further enhancement.
It is divided into five bureaus namely Health, Development, Education, Awareness and Security. The Board of Visitors will empower these five bureaus for the development of special people.
Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Hajah Jainab Haji Ahmad Ayid said this during a visit to the Sandakan Disabled Children’s Home near here yesterday.
Also present were Assistant Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Zakaria Haji Mohd Edris, Assistant Director of Sandakan Welfare Division, Kasrin Achil, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Datuk Armani Haji Mahiruddin, and Political Secretary to Jainab, Hajah Asnah Haji Tahlil.
Jainab said it is time for members of the Board of Visitors to assist in strengthening welfare homes as well as helping the government to develop a prosperous society.
“I urge parents to cooperate with the Visitor Board members to develop these special groups so that they also enjoy all the good facilities and infrastructure to build their own self,” she said.
Jainab also visited the Community Rehabilitation Centre at Kampung Seri Manis Gum-Gum.
Speaking at the event, Jainab urged community members to work together to assist these community rehabilitation trainees to move forward.
“I hope the chairperson of the Gum Gum Rehabilitation Community will continue to guide the center in the right direction that enables these trainers to be competitive and move forward,” she said.
She added that the government is always concerned about providing various provisions in developing these special groups.
“The allocation through the Social Welfare Department is one of the government’s concerns for helping the people in need, so do come together to help those in need,” she said.
Jainab also welcomed corporate companies assistance in helping welfare homes in the state.
