Gleneagles to hold Minimally Invasive Surgery campaign

KOTA KINABALU: Gleneagles Kota Kinabalu Hospital is running a Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) campaign themed ‘Less Pain More Gains’, from now until the end of the month.

The campaign, which is held at the hospital lobby, aims to raise awareness among the public on the benefits of MIS through an educationa­l exhibition and health talks.

Members of the public are encouraged to view the exhibition which comprises a simulation device and a display of MIS tools, where they can also collect stamps after visiting each exhibit to redeem a Coffee Bean cash voucher.

In conjunctio­n with the campaign, the hospital has also put together a health talk for Saturday, August 19, from 1 pm to 4 pm at the training room on level two.

The health talk will feature three speakers, consultant orthopaedi­c and trauma surgeon, Dr Dharmaling­am Muthiah, consultant orthopaedi­c spine surgeon and pain management specialist, Dr Chuah Uei Chyi, and consultant general, minimal access and bariatric and metabolic surgeon, Dr Chan Khan Wei.

They will be speaking on ‘Minimally Invasive Surgery in Orthopaedi­cs,’ ‘Keyhole Spine Surgeries: The Myth’ and ‘How to Gain More with Less? Minimally Invasive Surgery,’ respective­ly.

Goody bags and refreshmen­ts will also be prepared for those who attend the talks.
