KUALA LUMPUR: The National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Industry Association of Malaysia (PIKOM), will lead a delegation of 60 ICT industry leaders, respresenting organisations from the private and public sectors, to the 21st World Congress of Information Technology (WCIT) and the annual Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO) ICT Summit in Taiwan.

WCIT and the ASOCIO ICT Summit, billed as Asia’s premier ICT industry events, would be held concurrently from Sept 10 -14, 2017 at the Taipei International Convention Centre.

More than 3,000 participants comprising ICT industry leaders, C-level executives, entrepreneurs, academicians, visionaries and government leaders from 80 countries and economies are expected to participate in the event, said PIKOM in a statement.

The association also said in line with the theme, “Fulfilling the Promise of the Digital Age: Building and Sharing the Digital Dream”, ASOCIO would launch their inaugural research report titled, “Reimagining the Digital Era” during the summit.

ASOCIO Chairman David Wong Nan Fay said Asia Pacific’s strong and vibrant economy, favourable demographics, ICT investments and ongoing economic integration have laid the foundation for the region to become a global leader in the digital economy.

“We will be sharing the digital transformation plans of economies in Asia Pacific, key strategies, as well as the importance of digital initiative in the research report.

“Asia Pacific has the potential to become a leader in digital economy and a true digital revolution will transform the region’s ICT sector in the near future,” he added.

Wong also said the ASOCIO ICT summit presented a rare opportunity for Malaysian delegates to learn emerging market trends and technologies and also network with '’who’s who'’ in the global ICT industry. — Bernama
