30 Fire Dept personnel climb Mount Trusmadi

-

TAMBUNAN: A total of 30 Fire and Rescue Department officers and personnel of various ranks from all over Sabah recently climbed Mount Trusmadi here.

Trusmadi is the second highest mountain in Malaysia at 2,642 meters above sea level.

The program organized by Bomba Sabah Trekking Team started climbing from August 11 to 13 via Tambunan Kaingaran route which took three days to reach the summit.

The entourage departed from their respective districts and met in Tambunan before proceeding to the base and lodge to spend the night before proceeding to the summit early in the morning and then returned to the Mirad Irad Base Camp before proceeding to Tambunan town the next day.

State Fire and Rescue Department Director Nordin Pauzi, who led the climbing mission, said this was one of the activities carried out by the department besides recreational activities for all officers.

He said it provided an opportunity for officials and members to look at the trails and to assess the situation there to enable them to get enough information to plan any Search and Rescure activities for the area.

“This activity is also in support of the Visit Tambunan 2017 (VTBN2017) Program which promotes interesting places in the district,” he said.

Earlier, the team also presented cash donations to the Tambunan Orphanage Home.

The program was launched by District Officer, Thomas Logijin on Friday August 11 at Pisompuruan Square here.
