JKKK, JKDB need to help deal with threats – Radin

-

PENAMPANG: There are still Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and the Urban Community Committee (JKDB) who do not clearly understand their roles, duties and responsibilities, said Rural Development Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Radin Malleh.

In view of this, the Ministry of Rural Development will continue the JKKK and JKDB management and administration course and improve it as an induction training program which must be attended by all newly appointed JKKK and JKDB secretaries and chairmen, Radin said when closing the Kapayan and Moyog JKKK /JKDB management and administration course here on Thursday.

This move was aimed at enhancing their understanding of their roles and responsibilities, and giving them the opportunity to share their respective experiences of good governance.

Radin said he was satisfied with the performance of the JKKK and JKDB services in Sabah as coordinators between the people and the government in the villages in efforts to address the needs of the people, including security.

He urged JKKK and JKDB leaders to be more proactive in playing their respective roles, especially in terms of ensuring the safety of their respective villages.

He said JKKK and JKDB should always be concerned about anything that could pose threats to village security, such as housebreaking, drug addiction, presence of illegal immigrants, land encroachment, smuggling, disease epidemics and so on.

He said the issue of hygiene should also be the priority of JKKKs and JKDBs, especially environmental pollution issues which covered cleanliness of their respective villages.
