Sept 13 mention for case of trailer driver blamed for death of eight

JEMPOL: The Bahau Magistrate’s Court yesterday fixed Sept 13 for mention on a case involving a trailer driver who is accused of causing the death of eight people in an accident at KM25, BahauKeratong road on June 11.

Magistrate Mohamad Redza Azhar Rezali set the date after allowing the application by deputy public prosecutor Wan Ahmad Hijrah Wan Ahmad for proceeding adjournment pending the chemistry, Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research and Land Public Transport Commission reports.

The accused, Norzailan Omar, 44, from Triang, Pahang and who was represented by lawyer D. Anuratha, came to court about 9.15am, accompanied by his friend.

Norzailan had previously pleaded not guilty to the charge.

According to the charge, he had allegedly driven the trailer in a dangerous manner without paying attention to all aspects including the type, condition and size of the road as well as the traffic condition to the extent of causing the accident which took the lives of the drivers and passengers of a Proton Exora car and a Perodua Myvi last June 11.
