Sabah NRD staff take corruption free pledge

-

KENINGAU: A total of 107 officers and staff from the State National Registration Department (NRD) took the corruption free pledge (IBR) during a briefing held at SJKC Yuk Yin Hall here yesterday.

The IBR involved NRD heads and counter staff led by the state NRD director Datuk Ismail Ahmad and witnessed by the state director of the Malaysian AntiCorruption Commission (MACC), Datuk Sazali Saibi.

Earlier in his brief speech at the ceremony, Ismail said the IBR would cover NRD staff throughout the state.

He said Keningau, including the upper and lower Interior and office heads across the state were the first to hold the ceremony, to be followed by Tawau and Sandakan.

He said the undertaking showed the commitment of every Sabah NRD staff in combating corruption.

“This effort is in line with Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s recommendation that all departments and agencies under his ministry should sign the IBR to avoid corruption and misbehaviour when carrying out their duties.

At the briefing, Sazali called on civil servants to have high integrity and to comply with rules and procedures when performing their duties by avoiding corruption.

He said they should also help spread the anti-corruption message in the hope that every corrupt act would be reported to MACC.

“The MACC needs quality information by reporting via email or other applications where the identity of the informer is protected,” he said.
