Hardcore poor house owners benefit from repair program

SANDAKAN: Ten poor and hardcore poor house owners at Kampung Sim-Sim benefited from the house repairment project under the financing of the State Developmen­t Office (SDO) yesterday.

According to Chief Executive Officer of Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) Noor Alam Khan A.Wahid Khan, the project is one of the national love (cinta negara) projects in cooperatio­n with other agencies.

“ESSCom has been entrusted to carry out the ‘gotong-royong’ program to repair the homes of those listed in the E-Kasih Sandakan area especially in Kampung Sim-Sim.

“We selected 10 houses from the E-Kasih list whereby each house was granted minor repairment of RM10,000.

“The repairment included to repair the roof, obsolete wall, floor and so forth. We expected the repairment process to be completed within five days which started today (yesterday).

“We are trying to do it as fast as we can due to the unpredicta­ble weather and hopefully it will run smoothly without any disruption,” he said to reporters at the launching of the house repairment project in Kampung Sim-Sim, yesterday.

House owners who benefited through the repairment project were Bilkis Marsalam, 38, Mohd Isa Pjg Abd Rani, 67, Ulmi Lahib, 58, Saindah Said, 71, Harima Lauhin, 47, Abdul Moeis Wg Martin, 42, Abdul Mazid Mohamad Sari, 65, Noryati Kian, 38, Masni Mad Salani, 37, and Reymi Ajarayih, 30.

One of the house owners, Mohd Isa, who is the father of six children said he had been living at the obsolete house with his family since 40 years ago.

He thanked the government and hopes that such program will be carried out continuous­ly to benefit more poor house owners in Sandakan.
