Masidi, mayor attend ‘Tribute to Elvis Presley Concert’
KOTA KINABALU : Obviously, State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun and Kota Kinabalu City Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai went home happily and inspired after attending the ‘Tribute to Elvis Presley Concert’ held at Hard Roxk Cafe here Saturday night.
The event organised by Ron Ganasegaran and supported by Sri Pelancongan Sabah, Malaysian Association of Tours and Travel Agents - Sabah Chapter, Sabah Cultural Board and Hard Rock Cafe management saw a huge crowd comprising mostly Elvis’ fans.
“Our two VVIP guests as well as the audiences applause after every Elvis’ song rendered by Rayner Hendry Pailus who is also known to many Sabahans as ‘Elvis Presley of Sabah,” Ron said.
Rayner dressed with Elvis Presley’s favourite singing costume entertained the crowd for more than two hours without a single break.
Ron said Rayner became one of the pride of Sabah after the latter was named by the Elvis Talented Artist as winner in the Elvis Voice competition held in Texas, USA, last May.
He said the ecening event was organised to pay tribute to Elvis Presley on the occasion of his 40th death anniversary.
“On behalf of my organising committe I wish to thank our Minister in attendance, City Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai, and other invited personalities like SATTA President Dato Seri Winston Liaw, Dato Victor P. Paut , New Sabah Time deputy chief editor Jerry Kamijan and the public for helping us make the event a roaring success,” Ron stressed.
He said a portion of the collection during the night would be donated to Bukit Harapan as part of the organising committee’s social obligation.
“We will be organising a similar event in December and hope the public will continue to support the noble project,” Ron added.
