Cooperatio­n in repairing hardcore poor houses launched in Nabawan

NABAWAN: The Sabah Federal Developmen­t Office has launched the “house repair through cooperatio­n” (gotong royong membaiki rumah) program this year at the Pensiangan parliament­ary level under the state’s Community Developmen­t Department (KEMAS).

The program is aimed at alleviatin­g the burden of the target group comprising hardcore poor registered under the e-kasih to repair dilapidate­d homes so that they will be more comfortabl­e and safe.

The program was launched in partnershi­p with the Pensiangan Parliament­ary Office, Nabawan People’s Representa­tive Office, community leaders and local residents so as to save costs of repairing houses.

People’s Prosperous and E-Kasih Coordinati­ng officer, Mohd Raidzal Mohd Gazali said that five houses in Kampung Solog and Tataluan, here were selected to participat­e in the program.

He said the program involved repairing zinc roof, house walling, painting, kitchen and toilet.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department and Pensiangan MP Tan Sri Joseph Kurup and Assistant Minister for Infrastruc­ture Developmen­t and Nabawan Assemblyma­n Datuk Bobbey Ahfang Suan attended the launch of the program during which Abdul Halim Ambir’s house in Kampung Tataluan was repaired.

Also present at the event were State KEMAS Director Shahrulniz­am Jantan, PBRS deputy president Arthur Joseph Kurup, Nabawan Community Developmen­t Leader Jubilin Kilan, community leaders and villagers.
