NABAWAN: Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak has allocated RM8 million to Umno Zone 4 here to be used for implementing small rural projects in the four divisions under the zone.

“It is wonderful that Umno Zone 4 is getting attention from the Umno president, even though he cannot attend today’s event due to certain matters,” said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman.

He said there was no denying Najib’s concern for Sabah and its people, being always aware that Sabah needed help by providing a big allocation for the state to be developed, including in the interior.

“Najib, who is also the Prime Minister, has asked me to convey this good news to Umno Zone 4 on the allocation of RM8 million, where each division will get RM2 million for small projects channeled through the divisional heads,” Musa said when officiating the delegates meeting of the Umno Zone 4, comprising Pensiangan, Keningau, Ranau and Tenom divisions, here yesterday.

Thanking the kindness of the Umno president for giving the allocation, Musa, who is also Sabah Umno liaison chairman, said Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders, especially the Umno president and BN chairman, are always aware that Sabah is the second largest state in the country and had always provided allocation for the development of the state and its people.

He said the BN government is strong because the central and state leaders are always aware of their responsibility to the people, not only in the urban areas but also in the rural areas, not only in the east coast or west coast but also in interior areas such as Pensiangan, Keningau, Tenom and Ranau.

“This is our way of ensuring that the people are taken care of. Therefore Umno is always working together with their friends in BN so that our state will continue to be governed by a BN government through Umno and its BN component parties.

“We are not afraid or frightened because we have evidence of the many developments we have carried out, including roads, hospitals, clinics, schools and others for the people because we know and realize this is the hope of the people that they can live happily and comfortably and most importantly, in peace and harmony,” he said.

The Chief Minister also cautioned the people to always be aware of other parties entering the villages to make empty promises, and reminded them not to be easily influenced by those who want to change the current government.

According to Musa, BN is the only government with the best track record in developing the people and the state as it continues to preserve peace with more developments channeled to the people, especially in the rural areas.

Musa called on Umno and BN leaders to not only work hard by going to the ground to solve the people’s problems, but also called on government officials, including district officers, to work together with the leaders to ensure the prosperity and welfare of the people.

“BN leaders and government officials should have good relationships and cooperation, where the leaders plan on development project and government officials implement it. This is what we do all this time because we are aware that when the people give us the confidence to win, we feel the people’s hope, so we all work to ensure that the people will have the best outcome,” he said.

Earlier, in his speech, organizing chairman and Pensiangan Umno division chief Datuk Abdul Ghani Mohd Yassin, representing Umno Zone 4, reiterated their firm stand and support for Najib’s and Musa’s leadership.

Some 8,000 Umno Zone 4 delegates, observers, BN leaders and supporters attended the event.

Also present were Ranau Umno division chief Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, Keningau Umno division chief Datuk Haji Sairin Karno, Tenom Umno division chief Datuk Rubin Balang and Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Datuk Seri Panglima Yahya Hussin.
