Work together with administration, community leaders urged

-

SEMPORNA: The district administration needs the cooperation and support of community leaders to develop this area for the good of the community.

District officer Dr Chacho Bullah said the efforts to develop this district could not be done by the administration alone.

Chacho said the people of Semporna should be grateful to have responsible community leaders, such as Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Ramlee Marhaban who was always committed to ensuring Semporna was developed on par with other districts.

"As district officers, we (the administration) are always aware of the developments or plans that will be undertaken in Semporna and the matters will be agreed upon as it will not only develop this district but also benefit the people," he said.

According to Chacho, various efforts to develop Semporna had been initiated by Ramlee, including the upgrading of the Semporna road from the Semporna-Kunak roundabout involving 18.5 kilometres.

He noted that Ramlee would not talk about it if he was not confident in the result and Chacho was also aware about this issue, in which they applied for the road upgrading project for the benefits of all parties involved.

"The road upgrading project is not under the Pan Borneo Highway, it is specially requested by Ramlee as Semporna is not included in the Pan Borneo Highway," he said.

In the meantime, Chacho said the relationship and cooperation between the district administration and community leaders will contribute to the implementation of various other projects for the people.

"The community leaders have also contributed to physical developments such as sports complex, district mosque, mini RTC at Pulau Bum Bum and others," he said.

Chacho also urged the people to be grateful for the commitment of their community leaders who have also managed to solve the land acquisition issue.
