Semporna to get improved telecommunication lines – Ramlee

SEMPORNA: The upgrading of the telecommunication lines in this district is expected to boost economic development, particularly the tourism sector.

Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Ramlee Marhaban said upgrading of the telecommunication lines would also enable the local communities here to have greater access to the outside world through improved internet facilities.

Ramlee reckoned that better telecommunication system in this district would indirectly promote Semporna, which is listed in the top ten of tourism attractions in the world.

“With better telecommunication system, our children will be able to increase their knowledge and this would enhance their achievement,” he said.

Ramlee, who is also the Bugaya assemblyman, added the intention to upgrade the telecommunication system was made on the premise that telecommunication would complement the development taking place in this district.

He added that Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak had approved the telecommunication upgrading project after seeing the need for a better telecommunication system in Semporna.

The people of Semporna will be able to enjoy the UniFi (high-speed internet) facility with 100 Mbps/20 Mbps speed after completion of upgrading work that is currently being implemented by Telekom Malaysia Sabah.
