Police report against Facebooker over alleged slander

-

KOTA KINABALU: Gerakan Akar Umbi Umno (GAUM) wants the relevant authority, especially the Attorney General (AG) to take appropriate action against a Facebook account holder for accusing Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman of being responsible for the flash floods that hit several districts in Sabah recently.

Its president, Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar, said the account holder, Zainnal Ajamain had accused Musa of ‘stealing’ the rakyat and state’s monies without taking into consideration the flood situation in the state.

“Zainnal, in his Facebook page on August 13, had criticized, accused and blamed Musa for ‘stealing’ the people and state’s monies for personal interest and can’t afford to buy or provide any water pumps to solve the flood issue.

“His criticism of our Chief Minister has gone too far without any proof,” he said outside the city police headquarters after lodging a police report at the Karamunsing police station here yesterday.

According to Zulkarnain, the recent flash floods were due to natural disaster that is something unavoidable.

“Every country in the world will face flood and other natural disasters, but putting the blame on just one person is unacceptable,” he said.

Zulkarnain, who is also the president for Pro-BN (Sabah), said Sabah had been well managed financially under the leadership of Musa.

“This was proven in the recent Auditor-General’s Report 2016 Series 1 including numerous ‘AAA’ awards for seven years and being awarded the ‘Clean Bill’ for 15 years in a row.

“So what proof Zainnal has by blaming Musa for taking the state’s money when he has done so much for Sabah.

“I therefore urge the relevant authorities to take legal action against Zainnal for his claim that is seen as trying to smear the good name of Musa,” said Zulkarnain.
