PUMM Sabah organises ‘Moneyball’ seminar
KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia Entrepreneurs Development Association (PUMM) Sabah State Chapter recently organised a seminar titled ‘Learn Balanced Scorecard from Moneyball’.
The seminar was inspired by Academy Award nominee film ‘Moneyball’ which is based on a book titled ‘Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game’ - a true story written by Michael Lewis - about the Oakland Athletics baseball team and its general manager Billy Beane.
The book focuses on the team’s analytical, evidence-based, sabermetric approach to assembling a competitive baseball team, despite Oakland’s disadvantaged revenue situation.
Beane turned the failing lowbudget baseball team into a winning outfit, using the power of statistical analysis. The movie starred Hollywood heavyweight Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill.
The talk which was held to packed house at GASpace here on August 9 was facilitated by Cheng & Co’s co-founder and Managing Partner Professor Dato’ Dr Chua Hock Hoo on how strategic management tools can help an organisation stand out amongst competitors.
Balance Scorecard uses data analysis to achieve results such as enhance performances of employees, increase cost efficiencies and improve client satisfaction to achieve your goals and individual Key Performance Indexes (KPIs).
Also in attendance were G&A founder and CEO Dato’ George Lim, PUMM Sabah Liaison Chairman, Datuk Chua Soon Ping, Managing Director of Remajaya Sdn Bhd, WebCamp KK director, Dinoza Maarof, PUMM members and G&A staff.
